My lightbulb moment was realising that innovation doesn’t have to be complex. It’s not necessarily about creating something entirely new. When I first started Platinum Pilates, our kitchen table was essentially the head office. In those early years, it was a real juggling act – with a newborn, a four-year-old and an eight-year-old. Getting dinner on the table, helping with homework and bath times are not conducive to making and taking calls to get a new business off the ground. There were moments when I’d be trying to sound professional on the phone, while giving “the look” to keep everyone quiet.
