Unvaccinated 'looking at winter of severe illness and death', White House says

The White House has doubled down on a sinister warning message to Americans who are yet to be vaccinated

But President Biden has has been branded the ‘grim reaper’ by critics for his doomsday approach to the new variant. In a similar statement, President Biden said: ‘I want to send a direct message to the American people: Due to the steps we’ve taken, Omicron has not yet spread as fast as it would have otherwise done.‘But it’s here now, and it’s spreading, and it’s going to increase … We are looking at a winter of severe illness and death for the unvaccinated – for themselves, their families and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm.

New York Magazine’s Washington Correspondent Olivia Nuzzi tweeted: ‘Who is this for? Unvaccinated Americans are not going to be persuaded by messaging like this.’
