They're back and we got a first look
After a year-long closure, the Big Cat Habitat at Blackpool Zoo has reopened following a huge £1.5m transformation.
The keeper facilities have also significantly improves, allowing for medical procedures and specialist training to take place onsite in the 13-hectare zoo. Visitors can get close to the majestic animals, with several glass viewing areas giving them a clear line of sight of the interior and exterior areas of the huge wild cat complex.The cat house includes heated mock rocks and extended viewing windows have also been introduced.
The ambitious project has been in the planning since 2016, and follows the successful launch of Project Elephant in 2018. The Big Cat Habitat opens almost year after the seaside zoo celebrated its 50th anniversary.
