A cold front from the north Pacific Ocean pushing south into the Pacific Northwest over the weekend could deliver light yet wetting showers to the Bay Area on Sunday into Monday. "We usually don't see this drastic of a pattern change until October, but it's not unheard of," said Brian Garcia, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service's Bay Area office."It’s usually more of an October type pattern.", said the showery weather could persist for 24 hours across Sunday and Monday.Forecasters are closely watching long-term weather models to nail down the forecast and potential rainfall totals.
Null said that all four weather models show the San Francisco Bay Area getting some measurable rain and that's a promising forecast.Based on current weather service forecasts, Garcia said the wettest spots will likely be the coastal mountains of Sonoma County, Marin County and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Mount Tamalpais and the coastal mountains of Sonoma County could see up to 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain.
0.2 to a 0.5 inch rain, while the East Bay and South Bay are likely to see 0.1 to 0.5 inch, Garcia said.
