The latest on the incident in Ranskill
Firefighters called to a major fire in Nottinghamshire have now released an update as crews will "certainly" remain at the scene into early next week. The huge fire in Ranskill which could be seen from miles around has involved thousands of tyres and several diesel tanks.
In an update on Saturday afternoon , a Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service boss said a heavy presence will be at the scene for some time. The incident is likely to go into the early days of next week.Speaking from the scene, Incident Commander Group Manager Matt Reavill said: "Where we are today, sort of mid afternoon on Saturday, we have made significant progress on the fire.
"Although we are on top of it, we are going to be on scene for some time with quite a heavy presence. This incident is likely to take us certainly into the early days of next week."
