The move escalates tensions between Democrats and President Donald Trump.
THE HOUSE JUDICIARY Committee has voted to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress.
Ahead of the vote, President Donald Trump asserted executive privilege over those materials and reserved the right to block them. Nadler had given Barr until 9am on Monday to provide an un-redacted version of the report and then proposed to hold Barr in contempt after the Justice Department declined to provide the committee with it.
The report, however, concludes that “if we had confidence a thorough investigations of the facts that the president clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state.”
