The US has announced that it will drop the requirement for travellers to test negative for Covid before entering the country.
It comes ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer as tourists make their way abroad for the first time since the pandemic.
The mandate will expire on Sunday at 12.01am eastern time in the US, a senior administration official said. They added that the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention had determined that it was no longer necessary. However, the agency will re-evaluate the need for the testing requirement every 90 days and it could be reinstated if a troubling new variant emerges, the official said.Read more:
