US halves Covid isolation time to five days for asymptomatic infections
Hospital workers process Covid-19 tests at a hospital in Aiea, Hawaii.Asymptomatic Americans who test positive for Covid-19 will have their self-isolation period cut from 10 to five days.Those who have been in close contact with someone who tested positive can also leave isolation after five days of being alerted, the US' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Monday.
The CDC said the guidance comes with growing evidence that Covid-19 is most infectious in the two days before and three days after symptoms appear. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said the country said: "Not all of those cases are going to be severe. In fact many are going to be asymptomatic.
