The 29-year-old MLS player gave away a penalty after tackling Gareth Bale from behind in the penalty box, giving the Welsh player the opportunity to equalize in the 82nd minute. Bale, Wales’ captain and all-time leading goal scorer, stepped up to the spot and fired his shot past American keeper Matt Turner for the first Welsh World Cup goal in 64 years, putting the game at its eventual final score, 1-1.
