The National Weather Service says that the cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Saturday afternoon it is expected to be partly sunny, with a high near 14 but with the wind chill it could feel like it is as low as -10, according to the National Weather Service in State College. Wind will blow around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
The National Weather Service in State College says that the Harrisburg area won’t set a record low on Christmas Eve but it might come close to setting a record for the coldest daily high temperate. The 1906 record was 15 degrees. The high is expected to be 17 on Saturday, which would be the coldest daily high temperature in the Harrisburg area since 1960.
