The VHI is increasing the cost of its premiums again, by an average of 2.75%, effective from October 1st. This is the second increase this year, following a 3% rise in March.
The move is attributed to a significant rise in healthcare claims, particularly for high-cost services like cancer and cardiac care, which have seen demand jump by nearly 9% compared to last year. Despite the insurer's efforts to invest profits into member services, the cumulative impact of these increases suggests the cost of living is becoming increasingly burdensome for many families
