Four firefighters tackled the blaze wearing breathing apparatus in already searing heat
A takeaway in Northampton was engulfed by fire yesterday as temperatures hit 37C across the county. Firefighters from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, , were able to control the inferno despite the searing heat.
Residents were asked to shut windows and doors if smoke was heading their way. Onlookers and drivers were also asked to keep clear to allow emergency services to get to the scene.Six fire engines – two from Moulton and one each from The Mounts, Mereway, Brixworth and Burton Latimer - were called to the scene. Corby Fire Station also provide an aerial rescue appliance.
NFRS began leaving the scene just after 4pm and removed all cordons. A spokesperson said:"The fire service will conduct an after-fire investigation to determine the cause – though it is believed to be accidental at this stage."
