'Mica drove me to a total nervous breakdown' - One man's story of the battle that is tearing his life apart
Set against the beautiful backdrop of Malin's rolling hills that greet the North Atlantic Ocean, Kieran White's home is falling down.
“Thinking of it the whole time, the worry about it, family and working on top of it - I just had a full-blown breakdown. I didn’t know what was wrong with me," Kieran says. “This last year [...] the Government backed down again so I was back to the doctor again. I’ve always been on the tablets but I’ve been back onto stronger tablets since the last time they pushed the scheme through.
"You’re thinking ‘my mortgage is nearly paid’ - but this is the bank’s house until I pay my last payment. They are supposed to have been approached to help with the scheme but they have never been approached.”“It’s just typical of the ‘forgotten county’. I voted for Fianna Fail - me and my family will never vote for them again. From the county councillors up to the ministers and Charlie McConalogue - they didn’t do anything for us. They sold us out.
