Hulu last week aired the first two episodes in a mini-series based on the New York Times Magazine's controversial 1619 Project, which has been taught in schools across the country.
It was a description that prompted some ridicule online.
"The 1619 Project is a fan fiction history," former Democratic Congressional candidate Barrington Martin II wrote."Why is it taken seriously?" said that the"1619 project is a slander on the American people. It's a false narrative, and it has no place in our schools." The project has been integrated into classroom instruction across the country, prompting backlash from education advocates.
