The 2022 World Cup in Qatar got under way this afternoon and the opening ceremony sparked some entertaining reaction on social media.
The ceremony got underway from the Al Bay Stadium and featured a dancing performance from professional dancers before a troupe of inflatable mascots representing previous World Cups came on and danced to Wavin Flag, the World Cup song by Knaan which featured in the build-up to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The appearance of Morgan Freeman not once but twice on stage startled many viewers who were not anticipating his appearance.
