Jonathan Morris II, 23, was reported missing last week. His body was recovered Monday.
Police found his car abandoned in Hopewell Township on Friday.
By Monday, their worst fears were realized when New Jersey State Police reported that Morris’ body was found and an acquaintance was charged in his death. Stephanie Pernell recalled her son, who was known as “Jon Jon” to those who loved him, as smart and a workaholic.He worked at a group home in Sicklerville where he took care of disabled residents, Pernell said. Her last conversation with him was over social media as he was prepared to finish work on Thursday night.“We were just laughing,” she said. “He was just a gentle giant. Perez, who lives in Bridgeton, allegedly confessed to the killing and took investigators to the body, according to court documents.
