New Ireland Women's XVs head coach Scott Bemand has named co-captains but had news of a 'significant injury' to one of the team's best performers in a difficult 2023 Six Nations
Meath football star Vikki Wall is making "great progress" in her bid to make Ireland's Olympics Sevens team.
"Her dream is to go to the Olympics. She is making great progress and she will get exposed to game time now in the development competitions in Elche and Marcoussis and we will start to monitor her progress there and whether we bring her into the World Series setup in Dubai." "If we can tap more and more Gaelic players to attract them into the system then, absolutely, that’s what we want to do, give them the opportunity to go to the Olympics or go to a World Cup in the XVs," she said.
There are seven uncapped players in the squad and, while previous captain Nichola Fryday has retired from Test rugby, Ireland do have Beibhinn Parsons and Eve Higgins back from Sevens duty for this campaign.
