Justin Long teases that Vince Vaughn has a 'great' and 'funny' pitch for a potential Dodgeball 2. 'I don't know if he had yet pitched it to Ben, but I kind of set up the pitch, I felt like I should facilitate the pitch.'

Vince Vaughn has worked up a pitch for Dodgeball 2, according to former co-star Justin Long. Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story was originally released in 2004, in which Vaughn played Peter La Fleur, team leader of the Average Joe's Gym dodgeball team, while Long played another team member named Justin. Other cast members included Ben Stiller as rival Globo Gym owner White Goldman, Christine Taylor, Stephen Root, and the late actor Rip Torn as Average Joe's Coach Patches O’Houlihan.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY A solid critical and commercial hit at the time of its release, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story has gained significant popularity in the years since its release. Though it may be a goofy sports comedy, a number of sequences from it, including such classic quotes as the "5 Ds of Dodgeball ," have remained iconic and frequently referenced in other projects.

I do a podcast with my brother called Life is Short and when we had Ben Stiller on, and I asked Ben about this because I had just worked with Vince Vaughn again. Vince wrote this movie, it's like a parody of Christmas movies that I have coming out this December called Christmas with the Campbells; so I had just been around Vince a lot, and Vince had been telling me that he has this great idea for a sequel.

Could Dodgeball 2 Work Almost 20 Years Later? Long’s statement leaves a lot of intrigue as to what a Dodgeball folow-up would entail in Vaughn’s envisioning.

Stiller’s reservations with moving forward with a Dodgeball 2 also hold merit. Just looking at the gap between the two films as of now, it seems largely impossible for a Dodgeball follow-up to exactly replicate the energy and dynamics of the original films. It is, however, a good sign that Vaughn and Long are both so enthusiastic about a future for Dodgeball.
