The wait is officially over as McDonald's announces its viral Grimace Shake will be making a limited-time appearance Ireland
McDonald’s has announced its viral milkshake will be officially coming to Ireland - but you’ll have to be quick to get it. The fast-food giant confirmed rumours that the Grimace Shake will be hitting shelves at select outlets across Ireland later this month.
The Grimace Shake, inspired by the purple McDonald's mascot, is a blend of blueberry syrup and a creamy milkshake base, creating the perfect purple concoction.READ MORE: Nestlé confirms the return of iconic chocolate bar that was discontinued after 60 years The shake is already a phenomenon overseas, but for one week only - from Wednesday, August 28 to Tuesday, September 3 - Irish McDonald's patrons can get their hands on the internet sensation at participating restaurants, through the McDonald’s app, at the Drive-Thru, or via McDelivery. Grimace is a McDonald’s mascots who was introduced first in 1971 as a more sinister character named Evil Grimace. He was inclined to steal people’s milkshakes, much like his counterpart Hamburglar, who steals hamburgers. The old saying goes that Grimace is Ronald McDonald's best friend, and while he was initially branded as 'Evil Grimace' went on to become loveable and clumsy. The fast food chain debuted the purple, berry-flavoured Grimace Shake in June 2023 in honour of the large purple monster’s 52nd birthday. The launch of the new milkshake spawned the viral "Grimace Shake" trend which saw social media users pretend to pass out or fall down in random places after drinking the McDonald's purple drink. The #grimaceshake hashtag amassed over 145 million views on TikTok and the videos of people taking part in the trend went massively viral. Soon Irish McDonald's patrons will be able to try the viral milkshake for themselves, with the McDonald’s Grimace Shake set to launch here on Wednesday, August 28.
