The gritty hit show, formerly known as Inside The K, returns to our screens tonight on Virgin Media
A Superintendent Garda has said showing the daily life of a member of An Garda Siochana in Virgin Media’s second series of The Guards won’t turn off recruits from signing up.
“What we would be saying is this is a reality of what life as a police officer is like. It’s fairly intense because it’s a short series of instances happening in the space of three episodes. It’s not as intense as that 24/7 365 days a year but every guard gets involved in instances like this. “It’s the same K district but we haven’t called it Inside the K in order to broaden it a little bit and not be as intense on the area again.
Speaking about what to expect in this series, he said viewers will also get an insight into Ireland’s first ever coercive control conviction. “We do see mental health issues raised again and mental health issues continue to be a major issue for An Garda Siochana and probably has increased since Cocid has finished and the aftermath of covid is having ongoing impact on them.”“It certainly does help.
