Management at Fota say accommodation shortages and the high cost of hotels in Cork is having an impact on visitor numbers
More than 1.16 million people visited Dublin Zoo in 2023 – a drop of nine per cent compared to the previous year. The popular attraction generated revenue of around €11.1 million in gate receipts, and over €2.3 million from its souvenir shop.
“Overall, the visitor numbers were up 3.6 per cent in 2023 year-on-year and the park incomes grew in line with visitor numbers,” the directors stated in their annual report. The figures for Dublin Zoo include 224,016 people who attended its night-time Wild Lights exhibition in November and December.
