A woman driving southbound on San Jacinto Street was turning into State Park Road when she was hit by a Maxwell Community Volunteer Fire Department brush truck. The truck rolled over, killing both firefighters.
LOCKHART, Texas — Two members of the Maxwell Community Volunteer Fire Department died Monday afternoon after returning from a wildfire on Texas Highway 20, right outside of Lockhart.
Twenty-five-year-old Jonathon Coco and his 21-year-old brother Hunter Coco were returning from the fire when the crash happened.Lockhart’s police and fire departments responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Park Road and San Jacinto Road Monday afternoon around 1:48 p.m. The woman sustained minor injuries.
Lockhart police, along with Texas DPS, are investigating what led to the crash. According to a news release by the city, Lockart police filed a summons for failing to yield right-of-way for the woman. The brothers are survived by their immediate family. According to the Maxwell Community Volunteer Fire Department, Jonathon Coco had been a member of the department since 2016, while his brother Hunter Coco joined just over a year ago.
