So Tracy's mum really was a famous Hollywood actress
For those who haven't watched Tracy Beaker, which was based on the famous children's book series by Jacqueline Wilson, Tracy was placed into the care system and the series followed life at her care home, The Dumping Ground. It spawned the iconic catch phrase 'BOG OFF' and a lot of kids weren't allowed to watch the show, as parents feared their children would pick up on some of Tracy's less-than-perfect behaviour.
When asked about her mum on the series, Tracy would regularly retort that her mother was a famous actress. But it wasn't until 2004, in Tracy Beaker Movie of Me, that viewers met her mum, Carly. Her mum did work in the film industry, however, instead of being an A-list star, she was a stuntwoman. As another user pointed out on Twitter, Ruth also previously played Whitney Dean's mum in Eastenders who, similar to Tracy's mum, also abandoned her child. Gemmell has also previously starred in Silent Witness and Waking The Dead.sampled the show's famous theme tune on one of his tracks in 2019.
