Almost 1,000 people lose power after 'mini tornado' disrupts mid Wales

for wind and rain remained in place for the whole of Wales on Thursday until 19:00.

A further warning for high winds has been issued, which covers mostly western parts of the country until midnight. It includes Bridgend, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Gwynedd, Anglesey, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Swansea, and the Vale of Glamorgan. A series of thundery showers swept across southern parts of Wales on Wednesday, bringing heavy rain and high winds.The National Grid said there were 962 customers without power across south, west and mid Wales, with 14 incidents being dealt with.Another incident near Pendine, Carmarthenshire, left 64 properties without power.
