Packages like this one, received by a New Jersey homeowner, are typical of mailings used in "brushing scams."The boom in online shopping means daily deliveries – especially during the holiday season – have become commonplace. That’s something scammers have taken note of as well with the latest bogus effort being packages containing nothing more than a square of cardboard arriving from a residential address in Nebraska.
And it’s also a scam that indicates your account has probably been compromised,A person receives a package they didn’t order. Sometimes it actually has a product in it, but often the envelope is empty, or it contains something lightweight, like a small piece of cardboard.
