A long-running program of the EDPA, Alabama Launchpad offers entrepreneurs nondilutive funding and one-on-one mentorship with business experts.
The long-running pitch competition for Alabama startups is now looking for entrepreneurs with a social vision.
Finalists will advance to a pitch competition with a combined prize of $75,000. Alabama Launchpad has two tracks for finalists - the concept stage for pre-revenue companies competing for $25,000, and the early seed stage, for companies looking to accelerate growth, with a $50,000 prize. State lawmakers recently approved legislation for companies that want to become Alabama benefit corporations. According to the state code, this can include companies that benefit the environment, as well as artistic, charitable, educational, cultural, medical, religious, scientific or other pursuits.
“So many entrepreneurs in Alabama are interested in both doing good in the community and doing well on their balance sheets, and we’re excited to help develop those companies in our next Launchpad cycle,” Girvin said.
