Something for travellers to be aware of
The cost of replacing an expired passport online is set to rise and if yours is about to run out, you don't have long to renew it before the price increase. For the first time in five years, the Government will introduce new passport fees for applications. The fee goes up on February 2.
According to the Government website, the proposals, which are subject to Parliamentary scrutiny, will include the following:Passport fees are reviewed in line with His Majesty’s Treasury guidance Managing public money. According to the Government website the new fees will "help the Home Office move towards a system that meets its costs through those who use it, reducing reliance on funding from general taxation".
