A flood-prone road is currently closed overnight to enable investigations to help resolve the problem.

Water Lane, which connects Watford and Bushey, has been a flooding hotspot for as long as some can remember with vehicles sometimes left submerged.

Last year, councillors received assurances Hertfordshire County Council was looking at a long-term solution, with some work carried out at the end of last summer such as new pipe connections.There is an aim to direct excess water into a nearby river rather than clog up drains that then floods the road.According to Central Watford and Bushey North Liberal Democrat county councillors Stephen Giles-Medhurst and Laurence Brass, the next phase of work is now taking place.The tunnel in Water Lane.
