Police in Charlotte believe the pilot, who along with a meteorologist died Tuesday, went down away from a busy interstate, saving as many lives as possible in the process.
A Charlotte news station helicopter pilot is being hailed a hero by authorities in North Carolina's largest city after crashing away from a busy interstate on Tuesday.
"The WBTV family is grieving a terrible loss. Our news helicopter Sky3 crashed midday Tuesday with two of our colleagues on board," a WBTV statement read.
