"We had lots of different couples and configurations that we could have put in the mix," Coelen said, though he clarified they never purposefully put two people together.
"If they are legitimately going to be interested in someone else from one of the other couples, I think you want them to be in a similar headspace," he said, adding that the pressure to get married earlier is also more present in some places in the country than others. But that does not mean Coelen wasn't okay with the double-proposal going down, saying the couples were never told what they could or couldn't do.
