“She never says that she personally doesn’t support the war,” Kostyuk said in response to Sabalenka’s comments.
“If you ask this question, and I’m not so sure these people will say that they want Ukraine to win,” Kostyuk added. “But about them [Russian and Belarusian players] I’m not sure. She should talk for herself I think, first of all. And then talk about all the other athletes because I personally know athletes from tennis that support the war. To say nobody is a little bit strong because I think you can only speak for yourself.”Sabalenka was also asked what message she might have if she were to become world No 1 at the French Open.
“That they have to work hard and believe in their selves and they can do whatever they want to. This is my main message as world No 1.
