“It’s not like this is a project I’ve been thinking about for a long time, this is a subject I’ve been thinking about for a long time,” saysdirector W. Kamau Bell of the former sex offender once known as America’s Dad and his complicated legacy.
“For me, whether it exists as a four-episode docuseries, I’m thinking about it all the time, it’s a recurring thing,” thepremiering today at the virtual Sundance Film Festival and on Showtime on January 30, Bell was speaking in Deadline’s Sundance Studio – – check out our conversation in the video above.
In the docuseries, Bell speaks with a sprawling array of journalists, actors, cultural commentators, and comedians. The project also features several survivors of Cosby’s alleged sexual assaults over the years telling their stories and giving their perspectives on the mandisplays, the sordid tale and conversation continues.
