Staff and volunteers at the animal rescue centre in Preston have seen an increase in animals needing to be re-homed, fewer donations and a 'massive' rise in costs
As the cost of living crisis continues to hit families, many have found it difficult to pay for their pets as well as cover increased energy bills and food costs.
Although the Preston centre, in Longridge Road, is affiliated to the national RSPCA charity it is self-funded and independently registered. This means that the vast majority of its running costs must be covered by local fundraising and donations.
The centre is also looking for local professionals to join their board as a trustee and the team are in need of people who can bring skills and expertise to the committee. The centre's monthly operating costs run to around £45,000 and the team rely purely on local support as they get no government funding.
