Tomorrow, Sydney will take it's first steps out of lockdown after 15 weeks. For many businesses, navigating new rules and policing whether customers are vaccinated is an intimidating task. The ABC speaks to three businesses all taking different approaches to reopening.
In a shed in the leafy backyard of a home in Sydney's south-west, Cameron Elder is sweating under a leather apron as he hammers a blade on an anvil while a kiln burns behind him.
Cameron Elder's side hustle making custom knives has kept his cafe afloat during Sydney's long lockdown. "We're really sceptical about reopening, we don't have a lot of money to open-close, open-close," Ms Hulewic said. During lockdown she's been doing her workshops over Zoom from her house in West Hoxton, and preparing at-home kits that she delivers to families within 5 kilometres.
"Knowing the cases were going to grow and grow and grow and not having a date for us was the really stressful part because you're building towards an opening but we have no idea when we're allowed to open," he said.Matt Hunt has been training clients in the car park during lockdown.
