Muslims in Blackburn are expressing why they love the festive period in a new campaign
One Voice Blackburn have launched a new project dubbed 'I'm a Muslim and I love the festive period' as part of a community cohesion initiative. The charity have been launching these projects since 2017 by producing videos with people of all ages from the Muslim community, expressing how much they enjoy the festive season.
The idea for the baubles, as opposed to the videos that One Voice have been producing every year, came from a member of the charity, Aisha Seedat. The 24-year-old told LancsLive: "Every year, One Voice has this Christmas campaign, but it doesn't always get a lot of traction. Aliytah Butt, from Blackburn, said: "As a Muslim growing up in Blackburn, I always loved how the festive period served as the perfect time to allow families to reunite and spend time together. Blackburn is always filled with many holiday events and opportunities which only furthers during the winter period - creating a community where individuals of many faiths and cultures can get involved.
