Uniquely versatile magnetic shooter can be used as both a clip-on wearable and a full-on action camera
I’ve been lucky enough to have Insta360’s new GO 3S camera in my possession for a couple of weeks and I’ve had immense fun testing it out.
Like its predecessor, it comes with an Action Pod battery case that houses the camera and sports a 2.2in touchscreen and effectively enables it to double up as a regular action camera. The 4K recording is made possible by the inclusion of an enhanced chip with a 50 percent boost in processing power. The firm said it offers nearly double the number of pixels compared to the 2.7K cap on GO 3.
The former is a feature that has been on some previous Insta360 cameras. You set it to record three-second bursts of footage throughout your day at set intervals and then you power the camera off. It switches on automatically, captures the clips then powers down to save battery. It’s a unique way to log your entire day. You export the footage to the smartphone app which uses AI smarts to edit the highlights of your day into a mini movie synced to music.
All users also get Motion ND , Dynamic Timelapse , Slow Motion video at up to 200fps and TimeShift mode which creates moving hyperlapse clips. Animal lovers can attach the camera to their pet’s collar easily too – a fun way to find out where your dog or cat get too when outside the home. GO 3S can capture your footage in either horizontal or vertical orientation – it’s so simple and quick to switch between the two.
