Whether you call it a 'lolly ice' or an ice lolly, you're bound to have your favourite and we wanted to see how supermarkets' own creations measured up. (contains affiliate links)

With summer in full swing and the weather set to turn nice and hot again, it's time to break out the ice lollies and this week we've been testing supermarket own brands.

Sainsbury's Coconut Pineapple & Lime Ice Lollies When it comes to ice lollies , I always end up choosing a Twister or a Rocket. I tend to pick up supermarket own brands for the kids in the summer, but haven't ever really looked at the more grown up versions until now.

In my local Asda, its own-brand ice lollies were seriously depleted making my options limited. After scouring the freezer desperately hoping for something a little more adventurous and exciting to appear, I reluctantly popped a box of Asda's Rocket Lollies in my basket. The larger pineapple section was juicy and definitely tasted of the tropical fruit, but the strawberry and orange elements may as well have just been "ice" flavour. They'll still make for a refreshing pick-me-up on hot days, but they're not worth picking up if you're craving intense flavour.
