We tried the new South Asian café in Preston - where being polite goes a long way

Cafes are the binding force that help keep community spirit alive with a friendly and familiar face and a hot drink to top it off. For decades, the humble spots have offered a quiet and calm retreat for all. South Asian cafes, while different in cuisine, hold the same value in most communities as your regular cafe does.

Stepping into the shop on the corner I was relieved to jump out of the dreary downpour and into a modern, yet somehow cosy cafe. I say somehow as I tend to find the concept of modern and cosy don't mix too well, but the team at Chaii Stop have made this humble unit a welcome spot to sit for a while. It's not often you're given that reminder but to me, it indicated a friendly and welcoming team who wished for the same response in return. Using my politest tone and warmest smile I could muster while shaking from the rain, I ordered a Desi breakfast, priced at £7.95 and a Desi chai.

Tucking into the omelette first, the kick of spice mixed with flavoursome bunch of seasoning was quite the shock to me. I don't like omelettes, in fact, I don't know why I didn't ask for my eggs to be cooked another way but I think something or someone was looking out for me this time because the entire thing was demolished.

My cynical mind told me the hash browns, beans and mushrooms wouldn't be anything to call home about but I did just that. Well I technically texted my sister to tell her we had to come back purely for these hash browns. Crispy crunchy and not at all greasy- the perfect way to enjoy a hash brown.
