We're looking for veterans who are willing to share his or her story and be photographed.
Sep. 13, 2022, 6:00 p.m.Tim Hawk | NJ Advance Media for NJ.comDuring my time as a photojournalist, I have covered many events that honored and recognized WWII veterans. Many would briefly speak about their experiences sharing memories, both good and bad.
With tears in their eyes, the families of these veterans would watch with great admiration as their loved ones talked about their life in the military and the life they made once they returned home. The years of their life were visible in their faces and in their hands as most now are in their 90s or older., these veterans of the “deadliest and most destructive war in history” are dying at a rate of 234 people nationwide every day. The government estimates there are just over 240,000 veterans remaining — about 6,700 in New Jersey. We want to preserve these memories and tell the stories of the brave New Jersey WWII veterans who fought for our freedom and served our country.
