Westlife's Nicky Byrne took a trip down memory lane this weekend, visiting his former club Leeds United with his family. The singer, who spent two years as a goalkeeper for the team in the 90s, shared his joy on social media, reminiscing about his time there and catching up with former teammates and coaches.
While he may have found his fame and fortune as a musician, Nicky Byrne's first love was football, with a career as a professional player in the 90s. During his early years he played for local Dublin clubs, and in 1995 he signed for the UK premiership club Leeds United as a goalkeeper. The Westlife star reminisced on his time as a football player this weekend, with a family trip to the Leeds United grounds for a match.
Cheering from the stands, the family watched Leeds United beat Cardiff a whopping 7-0. Posting a series of snapshots and videos from the trip to social media, Nicky said: 'A little family trip up @leedsunited today. It was great to be back and to bring my family to where it all started!' 'Great to see ex-teammate Ian Harte and ex-coach Eddie Gray and to chat with Man of the Match and goal scorer Daniel James,' he said.
