'We’re on an even pathway within Leinster. Anyone could win it. But if we do lose two or three key lads we could slip down the ladder very, very easily.'

Former Wexford star Larry O’Gorman fears the county could drop into the Joe McDonagh Cup once a number of long-serving stalwarts retire.

Chin was in fine form once again this year but will be 32 by the time next year’s Championship comes around and Wexford cannot continue to rely so heavily on him. “If he goes out of the scene, I think we're going to struggle for a couple of years, even though we've a couple of young lads coming through who are good. I think it will take a couple of years to rebuild a strong team, if Lee or Liam Ryan or these guys step down.”

“So we’re on an even pathway within Leinster. Anyone could win it. But if we do lose two or three key lads we could slip down the ladder very, very easily.”“If we went down to the Joe McDonagh last year, I’d say the likes of Dee O’Keeffe, Liam Og and all these lads, I'd say they would have put their hand up and said, ‘Thanks very much but I've given it my all’.”

“A few years ago Kilkenny were the team to beat. Wexford don’t fear them. Galway don’t fear them. And even the likes of Laois or Carlow this year proved they can mix it with Kilkenny. So the level of hurling in Leinster has dropped.
