Who else is tucking into BadVegan this weekend?

Tilly PearceAt one point in time, Sarma Melngailis was the vegan queen of New York City, with a plan to revolutionize the culinary world with her raw-food creations.after a bad romance ended in fraud and the complete destruction of her once-solid empire.

Baldwin himself seemed taken with the savvy and beautiful owner, even tweeting in 2011:"When in NY, folks, go to Pure Food and Wine on Irving Place. Even if just to stare at @Sarma."According to the show, the pair started an email and phone relationship which soon became a friendship. Sarma admits that they had an instant connection and 'felt like she'd always known him', and he spoke with her openly about his desire to find someone and settle down.

While Sarma's relationship with Baldwin never fully took off, he helped her find her feet on Twitter, where she started interacting with a man named Shane Fox. Shane would often talk to Alec and seemed to know him at least cordially. This was enough of a seal of approval for Sarma to trust him too. This soon became a Words With Friends relationship, before, finally, an actual one.that he"seemed nice and made them laugh".

Strangis and Sarma married in November 2012, in part to help Sarma, who was falling behind on repayments for the restaurant. He promised to help her pay off her $2 million debt and leave her comfortable, and it was suggested by an accountant that if they were married, Strangis gifting her that amount wouldn't be taxable. They'd only known each other for a year by that point.

As the story got even stranger and Sarma hit a point that she couldn't feel like she could get out of it, he claimed that he could even make her beloved dog, Leon, immortal with what he was planning with 'The Family'. Soon their pay cheques started coming late, before moving to weekly to monthly pay, before not being paid at all. Angry and demanding the money they were owed, staff at Pure Food and Wine and its secondary company One Lucky Duck went on strike.

The news soon spread to the investors, who contacted the police to demand something was done as she had acquired the money under false pretences before jetting off with Strangis around Europe.
