When Huntsville was named the nation’s best city to live in earlier this week by U.S. News & World Report, a large part of the rating focused on economic factors.asked people what they liked about Huntsville, the responses pointed to an array of different highlights.
“I moved to Huntsville in 1997 to work in the Arsenal ,” Barb Bonney said. “Best people I ever met in my life!!! I love Huntsville, I moved from there to be with my grandchildren, but I still visit and have wonderful friends there, Huntsville is a very special place!”“I’ve lived all over the country,” said Ethaniel Fitzgerald. “The people and the attitude are just different here. Southern hospitality and common decency is real.
“I live in Huntsville,” Annette Lusk Butler said. “The mountains and driving distance to the beach, the Smokies, Nashville or Birmingham. Lots of good places to eat. Specialty doctors. Don’t like the cotton fields being plowed up for house and apartments. Some of the best cotton land in the world, as I was told by a professional gardener.”
“Coming from Germany I was saddened, because I never imagined anywhere could be as exciting as Europe. When I came here the transition was so easy because everyone was nice and made you feel welcome. There is so much to do, and they keep adding entertainment, and building. I’m now 49 years old with three sons who also live here and 3 grandchildren. I’m originally from Texas but Alabama will always be my home. It’s beautiful and I love it here.
