The Tallaght star has the fastest time of her rivals and is looking for another controlled performance in her first Olympics
Rhasidat Adeleke will avoid her biggest rivals for an Olympic medal when she steps back on the Stade de France track for the 400m semi-finals on Wednesday night.
The 21-year-old Dubliner goes out in the first of the three semi-finals and has recorded the fastest time this season - and in terms of career best - of the nine participants. Reigning world champion and Tokyo silver medallist Paulino Marileidy of the Dominican Republic goes in the second semi-final, as does another big medal hope Nickisha Pryce of Jamaica.
Adeleke, meanwhile, has praised the level of women's 400m running at the Paris Olympics. "The standard is absolutely phenomenal as of lately, and I think it's a great time for us to be excelling as an event," she said.
