To sit in the presence of Jung Wheein — even if only over Zoom — is to be endeared by her. She balances occasional shyness at her accomplishments with an overarching sense of self. When she talks about the musical path she’s on, the goals she has, it’s with a confidence that comes from years of experience in the K-pop industry, and an upbringing where she was encouraged to pursue the various sides of herself.
Born and raised in Jeonju, the musician grew up idolizing her mother, who has always been an artistic role model. Wheein, now 26, has spent more than a decade following her dream of music. She’s primarily known for two things: her honeyed vocals and her vital role in the vocal powerhouse group, MAMAMOO.
