When President Donald Trump was in office, he frequently criticized the media. He frequently pointed out the media's lies, hypocrisy, and left-wing, agenda-driven news coverage — and they hated him for it. Between assertions of “fake news” and claims of their agenda-driven reporting being the “enemy of the state,” many on the Left lambasted Trump’s criticisms as a threat to democracy.
Now President Joe Biden has launched a similar condemnation of journalists who merely dared ask him tough questions, and not one media outlet is holding him to the standards they held Trump. Additionally, he reportedly called Fox News kingpin Rupert Murdoch “the most dangerous man in the world.” The caveat here is that Fox News is considered a right-wing news source. As such, any and all criticism of Fox News or anyone associated with it is fair game. It's only when a president criticizes news outlets sympathetic to leftist political causes that it becomes a threat to democracy.
