and Brooklyn are among the 17 cities in Ohio where at least 10% of the residents are Hispanic, according to new estimates released in March by the Census Bureau for its American Community Survey.

Lorain is No. 1 in the state at 28.6% of the population. The community is predominately Puerto Rican, making up 22.7% of the city’s population. Painesville is No. 2 in the state at 25%. And in Cuyahoga County, the largest Hispanic populations, by percent, are Brooklyn and Cleveland .increased over the last decade. Campbell, outside of Youngstown, has increased from 14.6% in 2015 to 24.9% of the population, a 70.5% increase and similar spikes in Sheffield Lake, Sharonville, and Struthers.

However, populations are also shrinking in some of the larger cities. Despite still placing in the top 25 cities with the highest Hispanic population, Willard, Whitehall, New Carlisle, and Fremont all have seen more than a 10% drop in the community. See the chart below for the top 25 locations in Ohio ranked by Hispanic population. Data from the 2015 American Community Survey and the percent change between the two years are given for comparison. Complete rankings are not shown in the chart because of higher margins of error from the survey for smaller areas and low population counts.
