Manchester United and Manchester City were both active in the summer transfer window but to differing extents as the market closed on Friday night

Their other significant summer signings were priced around a similar mark with an initial fee of £42m spent on defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte on transfer deadline day. Meanwhile defender Matthijs de Ligt and striker Joshua Zirkzee were bought for £38.6m and £35.7m respectively.United's only other major spend was for De Ligt's ex-Bayern Munich teammate Noussair Mazraoui who came in for £12.6m.
As such, the fierce rivals find themselves at opposing ends of the summer spend table. Ten Hag's team spent the third highest amount of money in the Premier League with Ineos splashing £180.5m on players.
