Renters looking for more space may have better luck far outside the major cities, RentCafe study finds.Mitchell PartonWhile location is still a key factor for many renters, the pandemic and increased remote work have led to many renters to prioritize space instead., RentCafe analyzed cities in the D-FW area and nationwide to determine where people can rent the most apartment space on a $1,500 monthly budget.

For that budget, renters can get an apartment as large as 881 square feet in Dallas and 988 square feet in Fort Worth, RentCafe found. But in cities farther out, such as Greenville, Balch Springs and Lancaster, they can get more than 1,200 square feet. Not all suburbs tell the same story. The study found that $1,500 apartments were an average of 702 square feet in Flower Mound, 797 square feet in Frisco and 811 square feet in The Colony.

Nationally, RentCafe found Dallas to be No. 50 out of the 100 largest cities based on apartment square footage for $1,500, with Fort Worth at No. 38. Three Texas cities made the top 20 — Lubbock, El Paso and Corpus Christi.
