The Blue Jays acknowledged they have to make sure their players aren’t giving away information on the field, but they did, however, take exception to where the Yankees’ on-field coaches stood during Monday’s game. Their thinking is their placement on the field possibly led to information being passed along easier than if first base coach Travis Chapman was standing in the designated box.
“I think that there’s boxes on the field for a reason,” Schneider said Tuesday. “I think when it’s a glaring 30 feet where you’re not in that spot, you kind of put two and two together a little bit.” In Tuesday’s game, the Blue Jays again took issue with Yankees’ coaches standing outside of the on-field box, pointing out that Rojas wasn’t where he was supposed to be. Schneider said pitching coach Pete Walker pointed it out “more playfully than anything” but it still led to a mini shouting match across the field between the dugouts, leading to Schneider’s “fat boy” comment.was ejected entering the fourth inning for having an illegal substance on his hand.
